USCGC Eagle WIX 327 (U.S. Coast Guard)
The USCGC Eagle, with the hull identification number WIX 327, is a tall ship and active commissioned vessel of the United States Coast Guard (USCG). As one of only two active square-rigged ships in the U.S. military, the other being the USCGC Barque Tahoma, it serves primarily as a training platform for US Coast Guard officer candidates. Constructed in 1936 as the German sailing ship Horst Wessel, it was captured during World War II by the United States and commissioned into service in 1946. The Eagle represents goodwill on behalf of the U.S. Coast Guard and the American people when operating internationally while showcasing the maritime heritage of the United States.
